Nestled at 2863 E 95th St in Chicago, Tacos Nietos is a beloved Mexican fast food gem that consistently delights locals and visitors alike with its authentic flavors and unbeatable value. This modest eatery may be connected to a gas station, but don’t let that fool you — the culinary experience here is anything but ordinary. The moment you bite into one of their handcrafted Gorditas Carne Asada, you’ll appreciate the perfect balance of juicy, marinated steak enveloped in warm, fluffy masa that instantly transports your taste buds straight to the heart of Mexico.
Tacos Nietos shines with its tempting variety of tacos and gorditas. Favorites like the Lengua Taco offer rich, tender beef tongue that melts in your mouth, while the Flautas Con Salsa Verde provide a crispy, savory crunch imbued with fresh, tangy notes from the vibrant salsa verde. The Torta De Milanesa, a breaded and fried meat sandwich, is another must-try that perfectly captures the deep, comforting flavors that make Mexican street food so addictive.
The menu is impressively affordable without sacrificing quality — steak or marinated pork tacos come in at just $2.00 each, while more substantial options like burritos hover around $6.50. Vegetarians aren’t left out either, with unique options such as Gorditas stuffed with green peppers and cactus paired with cheese, offering a satisfying plant-based twist that still bursts with authentic taste.
In terms of atmosphere, Tacos Nietos leans into its fast-casual, carryout roots. It’s a clean and welcoming spot where service is fast and friendly, as echoed repeatedly by longtime patrons. While it may lack the ambiance of a full-service restaurant, the straightforward dining setup promises quick, tasty meals that hit the spot every time. Many frequent customers, like Lindsay Jackson and D q, rave about the consistently exceptional food and service, with some making the trek across town just to savor Tacos Nietos’ enchilada dinner or their ever-reliable breakfast burrito — a revered choice that shouldn’t be missed.
What truly sets Tacos Nietos apart is the genuine, heartfelt connection it fosters with its community. From the first sizzling steak taco to the last bite of a cheesy green pepper gordita, each dish embodies care, tradition, and value. It’s no wonder that despite its humble setting, this “hole in the wall” has captured the loyalty of many who trust it for both quick bites and crave-worthy meals. If you find yourself in the Chicago area craving Mexican fast food that’s rich in flavor, authentically made, and economically priced, Tacos Nietos is an unbeatable choice.
Best service, good food, clean environment. It's connected to a gas station (separate business) but I'd eat here before most places. The breakfast burrito is a must!
Pretty solid experience. Steak tacos were delicious. Both salsas smash. Burrito is 2018 prices but taste pretty darn good. Prices super fair.
The tacos are always good, the service is fast and friendly. Tacos Nietos is a carry-out, so of course, there's not much atmosphere--but it is clean. And, the prices are very reasonable. I definitely recommend!!!
Don't sleep on this place or the fact its next to a gas station.Having been going here for 10+ yrs and it's never bad. Tacos, burritos, and especially gorditas and all good. I just recently tried the enchilada dinner OMG!!! I don't even live close to this place anymore and still drive here to eat. The prices are so low they are practically giving it away. Try it you won't be disappointed, trust me!
I like myself a good hole in the wall, this was was attached to a gas station. Food is great!! Reasonably priced and very delicious, people were friendly as well. I will make sure to drop by if in area again. Very delicious.
Friendly staff and excellent food!! The steak tacos were very good!!
I can definitely said the best tacos in town. Pastor, asada amazing. I love the other meet options too. Definitely eating again here. Plus they super fast.
Swung by Tacos Nietos for lunch and it was hittin'. Got 2 steak tacos, an al pastor taco, and a horchata. Steak was juicy, pastor had a nice kick, and the tortillas tasted fresh. Spot’s clean, staff was cool, but the wait was a little longer than expected for lunchtime. Still worth it though. Classic South Side taco joint vibe. I’ll be back for the burrito next time.
